What’s in a first impression?
From first dates to meeting the parents, or from the job interview to that first day in office, making a good first impression is crucial. First impressions communicate values, principles, and priorities. They communicate who we are—sometimes better than words do.
In the realm of lifelong learning, it’s no different. BYU Continuing Education (BYU CE) aims to communicate its mission, vision, and values through every first impression made. To better meet this goal, multiple divisions in the organization have recently undertaken complete overhauls of their digital footprints. These website redesigns are as powerful as they are drastic, and they exemplify the values of lifelong learning.
High School Suite
In early 2025, the strategic marketing department announced the launch of a revised BYU High School Suite website. The revamp focuses on a fresh new visual identity, providing a modern, intuitive user experience. The new site is inviting, aligns with the BYU CE site, and features more information in a streamlined way.
A big part of the update is the addition of success stories. A new section dedicated to case studies showcases real-life examples of the way students have been impacted by BYU High School’s offerings. These stories are invaluable; curious students, parents, and educators can see the benefits they’re looking for in the lives of their peers.
Bachelor of General Studies
The Bachelor of General Studies (BGS) program announced similar changes to its website in November of 2024. The new site is visually striking and far easier to navigate than its predecessor. The site provides students with tools to verify their program eligibility and gives them a feel for what the BGS experience is like. The site also offers an easy-to-access hub where current students can find resources, including the Student Success Center and academic advisors. The site epitomizes what BGS is all about: opening pathways and making learning possible.
BYU Women’s Conference
BYU Women’s Conference was conceived back in 1976. For nearly fifty years, thousands of women have flocked to the event to unite in a Christ-centered context. With presenters, musical performers, panels, and classes, there is something for every participant.
To better reflect the Women’s Conference experience, the website received extensive changes. It now sports vibrant colors on a creamy backdrop and is inviting, fun, and easy to navigate, featuring all the information a prospective attendee would need. The site excels at communicating the spirit of Women’s Conference, giving visitors a feel for the event before they’ve even attended!
FlexGE
The FlexGE website is bold. Open it up and you’re met with pure school spirit. Giant graphics, concentrated colors, and uplifting energy communicate FlexGE’s attitude and unity. Its layout is unique while retaining the overarching design of BYU CE websites. Success stories, including both videos and quotes, give potential students a feel for the program.
The site’s not all show, either; extensive resources set students up to succeed in every realm of life. Financial planning, academic advisement, physical health—it’s all there on the site, helping potential students put their right foot forward!
BYU CE’s roster of updated websites establishes bold, unique digital identities for each department. The websites orient and educate, and they’re centered around the needs of students, giving a flawless first impression. Check the websites out here:
