BYU Online High School held our second graduation celebration for Semester, Flex, and Adult students on the weekend of Friday, May 31–Saturday, June 1, 2024. This year there were 145 graduates. About one-third of these students attended on campus in Provo, Utah. Other students attended virtually, most dressed in caps and gowns in their own homes waving to the audience via the projector screens around the room as their names were read.

Our graduation bash on Friday night, May 31 was held for students, family, and friends on the veranda and in the field of the BYU Conference Center. Graduates, families, staff, and faculty enjoyed a scavenger hunt, dinner, live music, field games and a visit from the one-and-only Cosmo the Cougar. It was heart-warming to see students who have been friends during school finally meet in person and to see other students who did not know anyone at first happily sharing their experiences before the night was over.

The graduation ceremony on Saturday morning, June 1, was held for students, family, and friends in the HCEB Ballroom, included speeches from our valedictorian Ashley Stewart, a Semester student, and our salutatorian Oliver Huntington, a Flex student, who pre-recorded his speech since he had already reported to the MTC before graduation. Principal Jennifer Chamberlain and Superintendent Carloyn Andrews also spoke, along with our keynote speaker, Emily Snyder, a senior product manager for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Emily inspired graduates and audience members alike with her message about being prepared to act on opportunities that we may not have planned for our lives but that will be a great blessing. While we all may feel fairly average, great things can happen as we take these opportunities.

It was a wonderful event! Thank you to all of you who helped to make this possible!
